DESCRIPTION

The TEA5101B includes three video amplifiers
desi-gned witha high voltageDMOS/bipolar tech-
nology.It drives directly the three CRT cathodes.
The deviceis protected againstflashovers. Dueto
its three cathode current outputs, the TEA5101B
canbe used with both parallel and sequentialsam-
pling applications.

BOARD LAYOUTThe best performancesof the high voltage video
amplifier willbe obtained only witha carefully desi-
gned PC board. Outputto input capacitances are particularimportance.
Fora single amplifier, the input-output capaci-
tance,in parallel with the relatively high feedback
resis-tance,createsa poleintheclosed-loop trans-
fer function.A low parasitic capacitance (0.3pF)
feedbackresistor and HF isolatedprinted wires are
necessary. Further more, capacitive coupling from
the outputof an amplifier toward the inputof an-
other one may induce excessive crosstalk.
POWER DISSIPATION

The power dissipation consistsofa static part and dynamic part. The static dissipation varies with
the output voltage. With VDD= 200V, Pstat= 2.6W
typ(3.5W max)at VOUT= 100V, 1.5W typat 150V
and 3W typat 50V (withR feedback= 39kΩ).
VOUT first value (100V) willbe the reference.
The dynamic dissipation depends on the signal
spectrum and the load capacitance. Dynamic power witha typical picture with150 Vpp
modulationis typically 1W. For asine wave,dynamicdissipation peramplifierPd =FxCl xVopp xVddx 0.8.
The load capacitanceCL includes CRT and board
capacitance (10pF), and amplifier output capaci-
tance (8pF): totalCL valueis about 20pF. Fora
5MHZ,50 Vpp sine wave anda 20pF load capaci-
tance, the maximum dynamic poweris 2.5W. Generally, the maximum dynamic poweris
reached witha white noise (tuner noise). Typical valueis about 2W.
Total dissipationis typically 3.6W (2.6W+ 1W).
Witha maximum static dissipationof 3.5W, total
dissipationis: 4.5W witha typical picture (UER pattern) 5.5W with white noise
