General Description

The LMH™6503isa widebandDC coupled differential input
voltage controlled gain stage followedbya high-speed cur-
rent feedbackOp Amp which can directly drivea low imped-
ance load. Gain adjustment rangeis more than 70dBforup 10MHz.
Maximum gainissetby external components and the gain
canbe reducedallthe wayto cut-off. Power consumptionis
370mW witha speedof 135MHz. Output referred DC offset
voltageis less than 350mV over the entire gain control
voltage range. Device-to-device Gain matchingis within
0.7dBat maximum gain. Furthermore, gainat any VGis
tested and the toleranceis guaranteed. The output current
feedbackOp Amp allows high frequency large signals (Slew
Rate= 1800V/µs) and can also drive heavy load current
(75mA). Differential inputs allow common mode rejectionin
low level amplificationorin applications where signals are
carried over relatively long wires. For single ended opera-
tion,the unused input can easilybe tiedto ground(ortoa
virtual half-supplyin single supply application). Invertingor
non-inverting gains couldbe obtainedby choosing one input
polarityor the other. further increase versatility when usedina single supply
application, gain control rangeissettobe from −1Vto +1V
relativeto pin11 potential (ground pin).In single supply
operation, this groundpinis tiedtoa "virtual" half supply.
Gain control pin has high input impedanceto simplifyits
drive requirement. Gain controlis linearin V/V throughout
the gain adjustment range. Maximum gain canbesettobe
anywhere between 1V/Vto 100V/Vor higher. ForlinearindB

The LMH6503is availablein the SOIC-14 and TSSOP-14
package.
