General DescriptionThe LM9072isa high performance voltage regulator system
with operational and protection features that address many
requirementsof automotive applications. Two regulated out-
puts are provided. The main regulator providesa precision maximum tolerance5V outputat 350 mA witha low
dropout characteristic. The second regulator providesa5V
output that tracks the main regulator output voltage within
1.5% with load currentsupto80 mA. The tracking outputis
idealfor usein powering remotely located sensors with
outputs that are ratiometrictothe main system supply. This
outputis fully protected from short circuitsto groundor the
unregulated input supply (ignitionor battery potentialsin
automotive applications).
The LM9072 also containsa programmable delayed system
reset output. Two control inputs are provided.An ON/OFF
input intendedfor connectiontoan ignition switch, anda
Keep Alive inputto allowa systemto remain powered after
ignition has been switched OFF.
For EMC concerns the LM9072 remains fully operational
and doesnot generate false rest signals while subjectedto, MHzto 400 MHz bulk current injection signals greater than
100 mAonthe input supply and tracking output lines.
