General Description
The LM320L/LM79LXXAC seriesof 3-terminal negative
voltage regulators features fixed output voltagesof b5V,
b12V,and b15V with output current capabilitiesin excess 100 mA. These devices were designed usingthe latest
computer techniquesfor optimizingthe packagedIC ther-
mal/electrical performance. The LM79LXXAC series, even
when combined witha minimum output compensationca-
pacitorof0.1mF, exhibits anexcellent transient response,a
maximumline regulationof 0.07% VO/V, anda maximum
load regulationof 0.01% VO/mA.
The LM320L/LM79LXXAC series also includes,as self-pro-
tection circuitry: safe operating area circuitry foroutput tran-
sistor power dissipation limiting,a temperature independent
short circuit currentlimitfor peak output currentlimiting,and thermal shutdown circuitto prevent excessive junction
temperature. Although designed primarilyas fixed voltage
regulators, these devices maybe combinedwith simpleex-
ternal circuitryfor boosted and/or adjustable voltagesand
currents. The LM79LXXAC seriesis availableinthe 3-lead
TO-92 package, and SO-8;8 lead package. The LM320L
seriesis availableinthe 3-lead TO-92 package.
For output voltage other than b5V, b12V and b15Vthe
LM137L series providesan output voltage range from 1.2V 47V.
