General DescriptionThe LM4850isan audio power amplifier capableof deliver-
ing 1.5W (typ)of continuous average power intoa mono4Ω
bridged-tied load (BTL) with 1% THD+Nor 95mWper chan-
nel of continuous average power into stereo 32Ω
single-ended (SE) loads with 1% THD+N, usinga5V power
supply.
The LM4850 can automatically switch between mono BTL
and stereoSE modes utilizinga headphone sense pin.Itis
idealfor any system that provides botha monaural speaker
output anda stereo lineor headphone output
Boomer audio power amplifiers were designed specificallyto
provide high quality output power witha minimal amountof
external components. Since the LM4850 does not require
bootstrap capacitorsor snubber networks,itis optimally
suitedfor low-power portable systems.
The LM4850 featuresan externally controlled, micropower
consumption shutdown mode and thermal shutdown protec-
tion. The unity-gain stable LM4850’s gainissetby external
gain-setting resistors
