General DescriptionThe LM3822 Current Gauge provides easyto use precision
current measurement with virtually zero insertion loss (typi-
cally 0.003Ω). The LM3822is usedfor high-side sensing. Delta Sigma analogto digital converteris incorporatedto
precisely measure the current andto providea current av-
eraging function. Currentis averaged over50 msec time
periodsin orderto provide immunityto current spikes. The
ICs havea pulse-width modulated (PWM) output which indi-
catesthe current magnitude and direction. The shutdownpin
canbe usedto inhibit false triggering during start-up,orto
entera low quiescent current mode.
The LM3822is factory-setin two different current options.
The sense rangeis −1.0Ato +1.0Aor −2.0Ato +2.0A. The
sampling intervalfor this partis 50ms.If faster samplingis
