Low Dropout Regulator with Delayed Reset
General DescriptionThe LM2926isa5V,500mA,low dropout regulatorwithde-
layed reset.The microprocessor resetflagisset lowby ther-
mal shutdown, short circuits, overvoltage conditions, drop-
out,and power-up. Afterthe fault conditionis corrected,the
resetflag remainslowfora delay time determinedbythede-
lay capacitor. Hysteresisis includedinthe reset circuitto
prevent oscillations,anda reset outputis guaranteed down 3.2V supply input.A latching comparatoris usedtodis-
chargethe delay capacitor, which guaranteesafull reset
pulse even when triggeredbya relatively short fault condi-
tion.Apatented quiescent current reduction circuit dropsthe
groundpin currentto8mAatfull load whenthe input-output
differentialis3Vor more.
Familiar PNP regulator features such asreversebatterypro-
tection, transient protection,and overvoltage shutdownare
includedinthe LM2926 makingit suitableforuse inautomo-
tiveand battery operated equipment.
The LM2927is electrically identical tothe LM2926buthasa
different pin-out. The LM2927is pin-for-pin compatible with
the L4947 and TLE4260 alternatives. The LM2926is
pin-for-pin compatible withthe LM2925.
