General DescriptionThe LM2925 featuresalow dropout, high current regulator.
Also included on-chipisa reset function withan externally
set delay time. Upon powerup,or afterthe detectionofany
errorinthe regulated output,the resetpin remainsintheac-
tivelow stateforthe duration ofthe delay.Typesof errorsde-
tected includeanythat causethe outputto become unregu-
lated: low input voltage, thermal shutdown, short circuit,
input transients,etc.No external pull-up resistoris neces-
sary. Thecurrent chargingthe delay capacitoris very low,al-
lowing long delay times.
Designed primarilyfor automotive applications,the LM2925
andall regulated circuitryare protected from reverse battery
installationsor two-battery jumps. During line transients,
suchasa load dump (60V) whenthe input voltagetothe
regulatorcan momentarily exceedthe specified maximum
operatingvoltage,the 0.75Aregulatorwill automatically shut
downto protect both internal circuits andthe load. The
LM2925 cannotbe harmedby temporary mirror-image inser-
tion. Familiar regulator features suchas short circuit and
thermal overload protectionare also provided.
