The LM2907 and LM2917 devices are monolithic
frequency-to-voltage converters witha high gain op
amp designedto operatea relay, lamp,or other load
when the input frequency reaches or exceedsa
selected rate. The tachometer usesa charge pump
technique and offers frequency doubling for low-
ripple, full-input protection in two versions (8-pin
LM2907 and LM2917), and its output swings to
groundfora zero frequency input.
The op ampis fully compatible with the tachometer
and hasa floating transistorasits output. This feature
allows eithera groundor supply referred loadofupto mA. The collector maybe taken above VCCuptoa
maximum VCEof28V.
The two basic configurations offered includean 8-pin
device witha ground-referenced tachometer input
and an internal connection between the tachometer
output and the op amp noninverting input. This
versionis well suited for single speedor frequency
switching or fully buffered frequency-to-voltage
conversion applications.
