General DescriptionThe LM2660/LM2661 CMOS charge-pump voltage con-
verter invertsa positive voltageinthe rangeof 1.5Vto 5.5Vthe corresponding negative voltage. The LM2660/LM2661
uses two low cost capacitorsto provide 100 mAof output
current without the cost, size, and EMI relatedto inductor
based converters. Withan operating currentof only 120µA
and operating efficiency greater than 90%at most loads,the
LM2660/LM2661 provides ideal performance for battery
powered systems. The LM2660/LM2661 may alsobe useda positive voltage doubler.
The oscillator frequency canbe loweredby addingan exter-
nal capacitortothe OSC pin.Also,the OSCpin maybe used drive the LM2660/LM2661 withan external clock. For
LM2660,a frequency control (FC) pin selects the oscillator
frequencyof10 kHzor80 kHz. For LM2661,an external
shutdown (SD)pin replaces theFC pin. TheSDpin canbe
usedto disable the device and reducethe quiescent current0.5µA. The oscillator frequencyforthe LM2661is80 kHz.
