General Description
The LM1851is designedto provide ground fault protection
forAC power outletsin consumer and industrial environ-
ments. Ground fault currents greater thana presettable
threshold valuewill triggeran external SCR-driven circuit
breakerto interrupttheAClineand removethe fault condi-
tion.In additionto detectionof conventionalhot wireto
ground faults,the neutral fault conditionis also detected.
Full advantageofthe U.S. UL943timing specificationistak-to insure maximum immunityto false triggeringdueto
line noise. Special features include circuitrythat rapidlyre-
setsthe timing capacitorinthe eventthat noisepulsesintro-
duce unwanted charging currentsanda memory circuitthat
allows firingof evena sluggish breakeron either half-cycletheline voltage when external full-wave rectificationis
used.
