DESCRIPTION

L3240isa monolithic integrated circuit designedto
replace the mechanical bellin telephone sets,in
connectionwithan electro acousticalconverter.The
device can drive either directlya piezoceramic con-
verter (buzzer)ora small loudspeaker.In this case transformeris needed.The two tone frequencies
generatedare switchedbyan internaloscillatorina
fast sequenceand made audibleacross output am-
plifiers inthe transducer; both tone frequenciesand
the switching frequencycanbe externally adjusted.
The supplyvoltageis obtained from the AC ring sig-
nal and the circuitis designedso that noiseon the
lineor variationsof the ringing signal cannot affect
the correct operationof the devices.
The outputbridge configurationallowsto usea high
impedancetransducerwith acoustical results much
betterthanina single ended configuration.
The two outputs can also be connected inde-
