General DescriptionThe LMX2604isa fully integrated VCO (Voltage-Controlled
Oscillator)IC designed for GSM900/DCS1800/PCS1900
triple-band application. TheICis idealfor usein the trans-
mitter modulation loopby providing extremely small form
factor and low phase noise. TheIC has two VCOs, onefor
GSM anda secondfor DCS/PCS. TheIC has two separate
buffer amplifiersto drivean external high power amplifier,
onefor GSM900 band and the other one for DCS1800/
PCS1900 bands. TheIC also hasa differential buffer ampli-
fierto drivea mixerforthe offset PLL.
The resonant circuitsofthe VCOs are fully integratedin the
chipto easethe applicationoftheIC. The high quality factorthe embedded tank circuit achieves very low phase noise
characteristicsatthe VCO output. The only required external
components area coupleof supply bypass capacitors and
matching components. control pin for controlling the oscillation frequencyis
sharedby the two VCOs.
The LMX2604ICis providedina 20-pin 4x4 LLP (Leadless
Leadframe package).
