General DescriptionThe DS96F173 andthe DS96F175are high speed quaddif-
ferential line receivers designedto meet the EIA-485 stan-
dard. The DS96F173 andthe DS96F175 offer improved per-
formance dueto the useof L-FAST bipolar technology. The
useof LFAST technology allows the DS96F173 and
DS96F175to operateat higher speeds while minimizing
power consumption.
The DS96F173 and the DS96F175 have TRI-STATE® out-
puts and are optimizedfor balanced multipoint data bus
transmissionat ratesupto15 Mbps. The receivers feature
high input impedance, input hysteresisfor increased noise
immunity, and input sensitivityof 200 mV overa common
mode input voltage rangeof −7Vto +12V. The receivers are
therefore suitablefor multipoint applicationsin noisy environ-
ments. The DS96F173 featuresan active high and active
low Enable, commontoall four receivers. The DS96F175
features separate active high Enablesfor each receiver pair.
