General Description
The DS3695, DS3696, DS3697and DS3698are high speed
differential TRI-STATEÉ bus/line transceivers/repeaters
designedto meetthe requirementsofEIA standard RS485
with extended common mode range (a12Vto b7V),for
multipoint data transmission.
The driverand receiveroutputsfeature TRI-STATE capabili-
ty. The driver outputs remainin TRI-STATE overthe entire
common mode rangeof a12Vto b7V. Bus faults that
cause excessive power dissipation withinthe device trigger thermal shutdown circuit, which forcesthe driver outputs
intothe high impedance state. The DS3696 and DS3698
providean outputpinTS (thermal shutdown) which reports
the occurrenceofthe thermal shutdownofthe device. Thisan ‘‘open collector’’pin withan internal10kX pull-up
resistor. This allowstheline fault outputsof several devicesbe wire OR-ed.
BothACandDC specificationsare guaranteed overthe0§C 70§C temperature and 4.75Vto 5.25V supply voltage
range.
