General Description
The DAC0854isa complete quad 8-bit voltage-output digi-
tal-to-analog converterthatcan operateona single5V sup-
ply. Itincludes on-chip output amplifiers,internalvoltageref-
erence,anda serial microprocessor interface.By combining one packagethe reference, amplifiers, and conversion
circuitryfor four D/A converters,the DAC0854 minimizes
wiringand parts countandis hence ideally suitedfor appli-
cations where costand board spaceareof prime concern.
The DAC0854 alsohasa data readback function, whichcan usedbythe microprocessorto verify thatthe desired
input word has been properly latchedintothe DAC0854’s
data registers.The data readbackfunction simplifies thede-
signand reducesthe costof systems which needto verify
data integrity.
The logic comprisesa MICROWIRETM-compatible serialin-
terfaceand control circuitry.The interface allowsthe userto
writetoanyoneofthe input registersortoall fourat once.
The latching registersare double-buffered, consistingof4
separate input registersand4 DAC registers. Double buffer-
ing allowsall4 DAC outputstobe updated simultaneously.
The four reference inputs allowthe userto configurethe
systemto havea separate output voltage rangefor each
DAC. The output voltageof each DACcan range between
0.3V and 2.8V andisa functionof VBIAS,VREF,andthe
input word.
