General Description
These (synchronous presettableup) countersare monolith- complementary MOS (CMOS) integrated circuits con-
structed withN-and P-channel enhancement mode transis-
tors. They featurean internal carry look-aheadfor fast
counting schemesandfor cascading packages withoutad-
ditional gating.low levelatthe load input disables countingand causes
the outputsto agreewiththe data input afterthe next posi-
tive clock edge. The clear functionforthe CD40162Band
CD40163Bis synchronousandalow levelatthe clear input
setsallfour outputslow afterthe next positive clock edge.
The clear functionforthe CD40160B and CD40161Bis
asynchronousandalow levelatthe clear input setsallfour
outputs low, regardlessofthe stateofthe clock.
Countingis enabled when both count enable inputsare
high. InputTisfed forwardto also enablethe carryout.The
carryoutputisa positive pulse witha duration approximately
equaltothe positive portionofQAandcanbe usedtoen-
able successive cascaded stages. Logic transitionsatthe
enablePorT inputs can occur whenthe clockis highor
low.
