General DescriptionThe National Semiconductor® Geode™ GXLV processor
seriesisa new lineof integrated processors specifically
designedto power information appliancesfor entertain-
ment, education, and business. Serving the needsof con-
sumers and business professionals alike,itis the perfect
solution for information appliance applications suchas
thin clients, interactive set top boxes, and personal inter-
net access devices.
The GXLV processor seriesis divided into three main cat-
egoriesas definedby the core operating voltage. Avail-
able with core voltagesof 2.2V, 2.5V, and 2.9V,it offers
extremely low typical power consumption (1.0Wto 2.5W)
leadingto longer batterylife and enabling small form-fac-
tor, fanless designs. Each core voltageis offeredin fre-
quencies that are enabledby specific system clock and
multiplier settings. This allows the userto select the
device(s) that bestfit their power and performance
requirements. This flexibility makes the GXLV processor
series ideally suitedfor applications where power con-
sumption and performance (speed) are equally important.
Typical power consumptionis defined as an average,
measured running Microsoft’s Windowsat 80% Active Idle
(Suspend-on-Halt) witha display resolutionof 800x600x8
bppat75 Hz.
