DESCRIPTIONAs a member of the SWIFT™ family of dc/dc regulators,the TPS54973 low-input voltage high-output currentsynchronous buck PWM converter integrates allrequired active components. Included on the substratewith the listed features are a true, high performance,voltage error amplifier that enables maximumperformance and flexibility in choosing the output filterL and C components; an undervoltage-lockout circuit toprevent start-up until the input voltage reaches 3 V; aninternally or externally set slow-start circuit to limitin-rush currents; and a power good output useful forprocessor/logic reset, fault signaling, and supplysequencing.
For reliable power up in output precharge applications,the TPS54973 is designed to only source current duringstartup.
The TPS54973 is available in a thermally enhanced28-pin TSSOP (PWP) PowerPAD™ package, whicheliminates bulky heatsinks. TI provides evaluationmodules and the SWIFT™ designer software tool to aidin quickly achieving high-performance power supplydesigns to meet aggressive equipment developmentcycles.
