DESCRIPTIONThe TPS22980isa current-limited power mux providinga connectiontoa peripheral device from eithera low
voltage supply (3.0Vupto 3.6V)ora high voltage supply (5Vupto 18V). The desired outputis selectedby digital
control signals.
The high voltage (VHV) and low voltage (V3P3) switch current limits are set with external resistance. Once the
current limitis reached, the TPS22980 will control the switchto maintain the currentat the limit.
When the high voltage supplyis not present, the TPS22980 will maintain the connectionto the output from the
low voltage supply. Whena high voltage line and high voltage enable signalis detectedby the device, the high
voltage switch willbe turned onin conjunction with the low voltage switch untila reverse currentis detectedby
the low voltage switch. The low voltage switchis then disabled allowinga seamless transition froma low voltagea high voltage supply with minimal drop and shoot-through current. prevent current backflow duringa transition froma VHV connectiontoa V3P3 connection, the TPS22980 will
break the VHV connection and discharge the outputto approximately 3.3V. Once the output reaches 3.3V the
device will connect V3P3 switch.Ifa loadis present, the output will transitionto 0V before returningto 3.3V.
The TPS22980is availableina 4mmx 4mmx 1mm QFN package.
