General DescriptionThe TP3404isa combination 4-line transceiverfor voice and
data transmissionon twisted pair subscriber loops, typically PBX line card applications.Itisa companion devicetothe
TP3401/2/3 DASL single-channel transceivers.In additionto independent transceivers,a time-slot assignment circuitis
includedto support interfacingtothe system backplane.
Each QDASL line operatesasan ISDN “U” Interfacefor
short loop applications, typicallyina PBX environment, pro-
viding transmissionfor2B channels and1D channel.
Full-duplex transmissionat 144 kb/sis achievedon single
twisted wire pairs usinga burst-mode technique (Time Com-
pression Multiplexed).All timing sequences necessaryfor
loop activation and de-activation are generated on-chip.
Alternate Mark Inversion (AMI) line codingis usedto ensure
low error ratesin the presenceof noise with lower emi
