FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION

STV5715isintendedfor2 headsVCR applications. includesall the electricalfunctions necessaryto
achieve play-back and record processingfor VHS
and S-VHS applications(10MHz bandwidth).
High performancetechnologyallowsvery lownoise
levels (current and voltage), which are frequency
independantin all the frequency range.In play-
back modea special feature suppresses the DC
offset when switching the two channels.Optimized
play-back output stage givesto the STV5715 large
capabilityto drive directlya coaxial cablein order reduce numberof external components.
Two play-back outputs are availabe: one, dedi-
catedto Chroma processing,isa 60dB voltage
amplifier output,the other, dedicatedto Lumaproc-
essing,is phase oppositesignal witha constantAC
output levelof 200mVPPat 3.8MHz signal. tracking information for video signal (TRIV)is
Luma amplitude proportional and allows automatic
phase correction. The transfer function hasa gain 2.5dB higher whena LP channelis selected.
Addingto this,a gain control bloc allowsto modify
the gain(± 6dB)of the TRIV function forall the
channelsby applyinga biason pin TRIVADJ. automatic scanningof record supply voltage
permits STV5715 automatically switching eitherin
play-backorin record mode. The switching thresh-
old voltageis fixedtoa value which forbids high
current peaking through the heads.
During play-back mode, record outputis grounded
viaan internal transistor and during record mode
preamplifiers are turned off.
Thereis one output current for two recording
heads, the DC current and the AC characteristics
canbe very precisely controlled with accurate ex-
ternal resistors.If recommended resistances are
used,a± 3% transconductanceaccuracyis guar-
anteed.
STV5715is fully protected against ESD.
