DESCRIPTION

The STLV3243E device consistsof3 drivers,5
receivers anda dual charge-pump circuit.All
transmitter outputs and receiver inputs are
protected upto ±8KV USING IEC 1000-4-2
contact discharge and ±15KV usingthe Human
Body Model. The receiverR2is always activeto
implementa wake-up featurefor serial port. The
deviceis guaranteedto runat data ratesof
250kbps while maintaining RS-562 output levels.
The Auto-powerdown feature operates when
FORCEONislow and FORCEOFFis high. During
this operation mode,ifthe device doesnot sense valid RS-562 signal, the driver outputs are
disabled.If FORCEOFFisset low, both drivers
and receivers (expert R2B) are shut off, and
supply currentis reducedto 1μA. Disconnecting
the serial portor turningoffthe peripheral drives
causesthe auto-powerdown conditionto occur.
Auto-powerdown can be disabled when
FORCEON and FORCEOFF are high, and this
shouldbe done when drivinga serial mouse. With
Auto-powerdown enabled, the device is
automatically activated whena valid signalis
appliedto any receiver input.
Typical applications are notebooks, PDAs,
smart-phones, hand-held equipment, palmtop
computers, peripherals, battery-powered
equipment, and printers.
