Applications

The NCP5386 is a one− or two−phase buck controller whichcombines differential voltage and current sensing, and adaptivevoltage positioning to power both AMD and Intel processors andchipsets. Dual−edge pulse−width modulation (PWM) combined withinductor current sensing reduces system cost by providing the fastestinitial response to transient load events. Dual−edge multi−phasemodulation reduces total bulk and ceramic output capacitancerequired to satisfy transient load−line regulation. A high performance operational error amplifier is provided, whichallows easy compensation of the system. The proprietary method ofDynamic Reference Injection (Patented) makes the error amplifiercompensation virtually independent of the system response to VIDchanges, eliminating tradeoffs between overshoot and dynamic VID
performance.
