General DescriptionThe MAX660 CMOS charge-pump voltage converter inverts positive voltageinthe rangeof 1.5Vto 5.5Vtothe corre-
sponding negative voltage. The MAX660 usestwolow cost
capacitorsto provide 100mAof output current withoutthe
cost, size, and EMI relatedto inductor based converters.
Withan operating currentof only120μAand operatingeffi-
ciency greater than 90%at most loads,the MAX660 pro-
vides ideal performancefor battery powered systems. The
MAX660 may alsobe usedasa positive voltage doubler.
The oscillator frequencycanbe lowered byaddingan exter-
nalcapacitorto theOSCpin.Also,the OSCpin maybe used drive theMAX660with anexternal clock.Afrequencycon-
trol (FC)pin selectsthe oscillator frequencyof10kHzor80
kHz.
