General Description
The MAX252 comple:e, electrically-isolated, oual RS-232
transmitter/receiver system requires no external compo-
nents. By comb hing many funcnons in one package/he
cost and complexity of an >solated digital interface are
greatly reduced,
A single +5V supvly powers both sides of the Interface
Transceivers, optocouplers, and a transformer f owe
low cost package provioe a complete interface up to
9600 bils/sec. Adjtioral pins provxde trw-power shutdown
and a high-impeoance state for boin transmmer outputs.
The MAX252A withstands 130VRMS (contmuous),
1260Vqu (1 min.) or 1520sz (1 sec ) and is intended
for applications where very /rgh transnent voltages, dit-
ferential ground potentials or noise may be encountered.
The MAX252A IS UL rrecrogni/ed, The MAX252B IS in-
tended for less stringent applications aha IS rated ‘or
SOOVRMS (1 min.) or 600%us (1 sec.)
