General Description
The LP8340 low-dropout CMOS linear regulatoris available5V, 3.3V, 2.5V, 1.8V and adjustable output versions. Pack-
agedinthe6ld LLP package and3ld DPAK. The LP8340 can
deliverupto 1.0A output current.
Typical dropout voltageis 420mVat 1.0Afor the 5.0V ver-
sion, 540mVat 1.0Aforthe 3.3V version, 670mVat 1.0Afor
the 2.5V version and 680mVat 800mAforthe 1.8V version.
The LP8340 includesa zener trimmed bandgap voltage
reference, foldback current limiting and thermal overload
limiting.
The LP8340 featuresa PMOS output transistor which unlike
PNP type low dropout regulators requiresno base drive
current. This allowsthe device ground currentto remain less
than 50µA over operating temperature, supply voltage and
irrespectiveofthe load current.
