General DescriptionThe LM9044isa precision differential amplifier specifically
designedfor operationin the automotive environment. Gain
accuracyis guaranteed overthe entire automotive tempera-
ture range (−40˚Cto +125˚C) andis factory trimmed after
package assembly. The input circuitry has been specifically
designedto reject common-mode signalsas muchas3V
below groundona single positive power supply. This facili-
tates the useof sensors which are groundedatthe engine
block while the LM9044 itselfis groundedat chassis poten-
tial.An external capacitor setsthe maximum operating fre-
quencyofthe amplifier, thereby filtering high frequency tran-
sients. Both inputsare protected against accidental shorting the battery and against load dump transients. The input
impedanceis typically1 MΩ.
The outputop ampis capableof driving capacitive loads and fully protected. Also, internal circuitry has been providedto
detect open circuit conditionson eitheror both inputs and
forcethe outputtoa “home” position(a ratioofthe external
reference voltage).
