General DescriptionThe LM79MXX seriesof 3-terminal regulatorsis available
with fixed output voltagesof −5V, −12V, and −15V. These
devices need only one external component—a compensa-
tion capacitorat the output. The LM79MXX seriesis pack-
agedinthe TO-220 power package, andis capableof sup-
plying 0.5Aof output current.
These regulators employ internal current limiting, safe area
protection, and thermal shutdownfor protection against vir-
tuallyall overload conditions.
Low groundpin currentof the LM79MXX series allows out-
put voltagetobe easily boosted abovethe preset value with resistor divider. The low quiescent currentof these devices
witha specified maximum change with line and load ensures
good regulationin the voltage boosted mode.
For output voltage other than −5V, −12V, and −15V the
LM137 series providesan output voltage range from −1.2V −57V.
