General DescriptionThe LM60isa precision integrated-circuit temperature sen-
sor that can sensea −40˚Cto +125˚C temperature range
while operating froma single +2.7V supply. The LM60’s
output voltageis linearly proportionalto Celsius (Centigrade)
temperature (+6.25 mV/˚C) and hasaDC offsetof +424 mV.
The offset allows reading negative temperatures withoutthe
needfora negative supply. The nominal output voltageofthe
LM60 ranges from +174 mVto +1205 mVfora −40˚Cto
+125˚C temperature range. The LM60is calibratedto pro-
vide accuraciesof ±2.0˚Cat room temperature and ±3˚C
over thefull −25˚Cto +125˚C temperature range.
The LM60’s linear output, +424 mV offset, and factory cali-
bration simplify external circuitry requiredina single supply
environment where reading negative temperaturesis re-
quired. Because the LM60’s quiescent currentis less than
110 μA, self-heatingis limitedtoa very low 0.1˚Cin stillairin
the SOT-23 package. Shutdown capabilityfor the LM60is
intrinsic becauseits inherent low power consumption allowstobe powered directly fromthe outputof many logic gates.
