General DescriptionThe LM5005 high voltage switching regulator featuresallof
the functions necessaryto implementan efficient high volt-
age buck regulator usinga minimumof external compo-
nents. This easyto use regulator includesa 75V N-Channel
buck switch withan output current capabilityof 2.5 Amps.
The regulator control methodis based upon current mode
control utilizingan emulated current ramp. Current mode
control provides inherent line feed-forward, cycle-by-cycle
current limiting and easeof loop compensation. The useof emulated control ramp reduces noise sensitivityof the
pulse-width modulation circuit, allowing reliable controlof
very small duty cycles necessaryin high input voltage appli-
cations. The operating frequencyis programmable from
50kHzto 500kHz.An oscillator synchronization pin allows
multiple LM5005 regulatorsto self-synchronizeortobe syn-
chronizedtoan external clock.Additional protection features
include: current limit, thermal shutdown and remote shut-
down capability.The deviceis available ina power enhanced
TSSOP-20 package featuringan exposeddie attach padto
aid thermal dissipation.
