General DescriptionThe LM4921 combinesa 16-bit resolution stereoI2S input
digital-to-analog converter (DAC) witha stereo headphone
audio power amplifier.Itis primarily designedfor demanding
applicationsin mobile phones and other portable communi-
cation device applications. The LM4921 featuresanI2S
serial interfaceforthe digital audio information anda 16-bit
SPI serial interfacefor internal register control and commu-
nication. With AVDD and DVDD= 3.0VDC and drivinga 32Ω
single-ended loadtoa 26mWRMS output level the distortion
(THD+N)ofthe LM4921willbe less than 0.5%. The LM4921
also featuresa programmable 32-step digital volume control
accessed throughan SPI interface.
Boomer audio power amplifiers were designed specificallyto
provide high quality output power witha minimal amountof
external components.Itis, therefore, ideally suitedfor mo-
bile phone and other low voltage applications where minimal
power consumptionisa primary requirement.
The LM4921 featuresa low-power consumption shutdown
mode, and also hasan internal thermal shutdown protection
mechanism.
