General DescriptionThe LM4889isan audio power amplifier primarily designed
for demanding applicationsin mobile phones and other por-
table communication device applications.Itis capableof
delivering1 wattof continuous average powertoan8Ω BTL
load with less than 2% distortion (THD+N) froma 5VDC
power supply.
Boomer audio power amplifiers were designed specificallyto
provide high quality output power witha minimal amountof
external components. The LM4889 doesnot require output
coupling capacitorsor bootstrap capacitors, and thereforeis
ideally suitedfor mobile phone and other low voltage appli-
cations where minimal power consumptionisa primaryre-
quirement.
The LM4889 featuresa low-power consumption shutdown
mode, whichis achievedby driving the shutdownpin with
logic low. Additionally,the LM4889 featuresan internal ther-
mal shutdown protection mechanism.
The LM4889 contains advanced pop& click circuitry which
eliminates noises which would otherwise occur during
turn-on and turn-off transitions.
The LM4889is unity-gain stable and canbe configuredby
external gain-setting resistors.
