General DescriptionThe LM4140 seriesof precision references are designedto
combine high accuracy, low drift and noise with low power
dissipationina small package.
The LM4140isthe industry’s first reference with output volt-
age options lower thanthe bandgap voltage.
The keytothe advance performanceofthe LM4140is the
useof EEPROM registers and CMOS DACsfor temperature
coefficient curvature correction and trimmingof the output
voltage accuracyof the device during the final production
testing.
The major advantageof this methodisthe much higher reso-
lution available with DACs thanis available economically
with most methods utilizedby other bandgap references.
The low input and dropout voltage, low supply current and
output drive capabilityofthe LM4140 makes this productan
ideal choicefor battery powered and portable applications.
The LM4140is availablein three grades(A,B,C) with 0.1%
initial accuracy and3,6 and10 ppm/˚C temperature coeffi-
cients. For even lower Tempco, contact National Semicon-
ductor.
The device performanceis specified over the temperature
range (0˚Cto +70˚C) andis availablein compact 8-pin SO
package.
For other output voltage options from 0.5Vto 4.5V, con-
tact National Semiconductor.
