The LM3554isa 2-MHz fixed-frequency, current-
mode synchronous boost converter. The deviceis
designedto operate asa dual 600-mA (1.2A total)
constant-current driverfor high-current white LEDs,ora regulated 4.5-Vor 5-V voltage source.
The main features include: anI2 C-compatible
interfacefor controlling the LED currentor the desired
output voltage,a hardware flash
direct triggeringof the flash pulse,
which force the flash pulse intoa low-current torch
mode allowing for synchronization to RF power
amplifier events or other high-current conditions.
Additionally, an active high hardware enable (HWEN)
input providesa hardware shutdown during system
software failures.
Five protection features are available within the
LM3554 includinga software selectable input voltage
monitor,an internal comparator for
external temperature sensor, four
limitsto ensure the battery currentis kept belowa
predetermined peak level, an overvoltage protection
featureto limit the output voltage during LED open
circuits, and an output short circuit protection which
limits the output current during shortsto GND.
