General DescriptionThe LM3485isa high efficiency PFET switching regulator
controller thata system designer can useto quickly and
easily developa small, low cost, switching buck regulatorfor wide rangeof applications. The useofa hysteretic control
scheme providesfor simple design without any control loop
stability concerns usinga wide varietyof external compo-
nents. The PFET architecture also allowsfor low component
countas wellas ultra-low dropout operation. Another benefit high efficiency operationat light loads withoutan increase output ripple. Current limit protection circuitis providedby
measuringthe voltage acrossthe PFET’s RDSON thus elimi-
natinga costly sense resistor. The current limit canbe ad-
justed allowingfor designsat various output currents and
costs.
