General DescriptionThe LM3305V 3-terminal positive voltage regulator features abilityto source 150 mAof output current withan
input-output differentialof 0.6Vor less. Familiar regulator
features suchas current limit and thermal overload protec-
tionare also provided.
Thelow dropoutvoltage makesthe LM330 usefulfor certain
battery applications sincethis feature allows alonger battery
discharge beforethe output fallsoutof regulation.Forex-
ample,a battery supplyingthe regulator input voltage may
dischargeto 5.6Vandstill properly regulatethe systemand
load voltage. Supportingthis feature,the LM330 protects
both itselfand regulated systems from negative voltagein-
puts resulting from reverse installationsof batteries.
Other protection features includeline transient protectionup 26V,whenthe outputactually shuts downto avoiddamag-
ing internaland external circuits. Also,the LM330 regulator
cannotbe harmedbya temporary mirror-image insertion.
