General Description
The LM112 seriesare micropower operational amplifiers
with verylow offset-voltage and input-current errorsÐat
leasta factoroften better than FET amplifiers overa
b55§Cto a125§C temperature range. Similartothe LM108
series,that alsouse supergain transistors, they differinthat
they include internal frequency compensationand havepro-
visionsfor offset adjustmentwitha single potentiometer.
These amplifierswill operateon supply voltagesof g2Vto
g20V, drawinga quiescent currentof only 300mA. Per-
formanceisnot appreciably affected overthis rangeof volt-
ages,so operation from unregulated power sourcesis easily
accomplished. They can alsoberun froma single supply
likethe5V usedfor digital circuits.
The LM112 seriesarethefirstIC amplifiersto improvereli-
abilityby including overvoltage protectionforthe MOS com-
pensation capacitor. Without this feature, IC’s have been
knownto suffer catastrophic failure causedby short-dura-
tion overvoltage spikesonthe supplies. Unlike other inter-
nally-compensatedIC amplifiers,itis possibleto overcom-
pensate withan external capacitorto increase stability mar-
gin.
The LM212is identicaltothe LM112, exceptthatthe LM212
hasits performance guaranteed overa b25§Cto a85§C
temperature range insteadof b55§Cto a125§C. The
LM312is guaranteed overa 0§Cto a70§C temperature
range.
