General DescriptionThe LM2984 positive voltage regulator features three inde-
pendent and tracking outputs capableof deliveringthe
powerfor logic circuits, peripheral sensors and standby
memoryin atypical microprocessor system.The LM2984in-
cludescircuitry which monitorsboth itsown high-currentout-
put and alsoan externalμP.If any error conditionsare
sensedin either,a reset errorflagissetand maintained until
the malfunction terminates. Since these functionsarein-
cludedinthe same package withthe three regulators,a
great savingin board spacecanbe realized inthe typicalmi-
croprocessor system. The LM2984 also features verylow
dropout voltageson eachofits three regulator outputs (0.6Vthe rated output current). Furthermore,the quiescentcur-
rentcanbe reducedto1mAinthe standby mode.
Designed alsoforvehicular applications, theLM2984andall
regulated circuitryare protected from reverse battery instal-
lationsor 2-battery jumps. Familiar regulator features such short circuitand thermal overloadprotectionare alsopro-
vided. Fixedoutputsof5V areavailablein theplastic TO-220
power package.
