Low Power Operational Amplifier/Voltage Comparator
General DescriptionThe LM392 series consistsof2 independent building block
circuits. Oneisa high gain, internally frequency compen-
sated operational amplifier,andthe otherisa precision volt-
age comparator. Boththe operational amplifierandthe volt-
age comparator have been specifically designedto operate
froma single power supply overa wide rangeof voltages.
Both circuits have input stages whichwill common-modein-
put downto groundwhen operatingfroma single powersup-
ply. Operation fromsplit power suppliesis also possibleand
thelow power supply currentis independentofthe magni-
tudeofthe supply voltage.
Application areas include transducer amplifier with pulse
shaper,DC gain blockwith level detector,VCO, aswellasall
conventional operational amplifieror voltage comparatorcir-
cuits. Both circuitscanbe operated directly fromthe stan-
dard5 VDC power supply voltage usedin digital systems,
andthe outputofthe comparatorwill interface directly with
either TTLor CMOS logic.In addition,thelow power drain
makesthe LM392 extremely usefulinthe designof portable
equipment.
