The LM2734Z regulator is a monolithic, high- Qualifiedfor Automotive Applications frequency, PWM step-down DC–DC converter• AEC-Q100 Qualified With the Following Results: assembledina thick 6-pin SOT anda WSON non- pullback package. The device providesall the active functionsto provide local DC–DC conversion with fast
transient response and accurate regulation in the smallest possible PCB area.
Witha minimumof external components and online design support through WEBENCH™, the LM2734Z is easyto use. The abilityto drive 1-A loads with an internal 300-mΩ NMOS switch using state-of-the-art
0.5-µm BiCMOS technology resultsin the best power density available. The world class control circuitry allows for ON-timesas lowas13 ns, thus supporting exceptionally high-frequency conversion over the
entire 3-Vto 20-V input operating range downto the
minimum output voltageof 0.8V. Switching frequency is internally set to3 MHz, allowing the use of extremely small surface mount inductors and chip Current-Mode, PWM Operation capacitors. Even though the operating frequencyis
very high, efficienciesupto 85% are easyto achieve.• Thermal Shutdown External shutdownis included, featuring an ultra-low
standby currentof30 nA. The LM2734Z uses current-2 Applications mode control and internal compensationto provide DSL Modems high-performance regulation overa wide range of
operating conditions. Additional features include• Local Pointof Load Regulation internal soft-start circuitryto reduce inrush current,• Battery-Powered Devices pulse-by-pulse current limit, thermal shutdown, and• USB-Powered Devices output overvoltage protection. Automotive
