General DescriptionThe LM2722, partof the LM2726 family,is designedtobe
used with multi-phase controllers. This part differs from the
LM2726by changing the functionalityof the SYNC_EN pin
froma whole chip enabletoa low side MOSFET enable.As result, the SYNC_EN pin now provides control between
Synchronous and Asynchronous operations. Having this
control canbe advantageousin portable systems since
Asynchronous operations canbe more efficientat very light
loads.
The LM2722 drives both top and bottom MOSFETsina
push-pull structure simultaneously.It takesa logic level
PWM input and splitsit into two complimentary signals with typical 20ns dead timein between. The built-in
cross-conduction protection circuitry prevents the top and
bottom FETs from turning on simultaneously. The
cross-conduction protection circuitry detects both the driver
outputs and will not turnona driver until the other driver
outputis low. Witha bias voltageof 5V,the peak sourcing
and sinking currentfor each driverofthe LM2722is typically
3A.Inan SO-8 package, each driveris ableto handle 50mA
average current. Input UVLO (Under-Voltage-Lock-Out)
forces both driver outputs lowto ensure proper power-up
and power-down operation. The gate drive bias voltage
neededby the high side MOSFETis obtained throughan
external bootstrap. Minimum pulse widthisas lowas 55ns.
