General DescriptionThe LM2698isa general purpose PWM boost converter.
The 1.9A, 18V, 0.2ohm internal switch enables the LM2698 provide efficient power conversionto outputs ranging from
2.2Vto 17V.It can operate with input voltagesas lowas 2.2V
andas highas 12V. Current-mode architecture provides
superior line and load regulation and simple frequency com-
pensation overthe device’s 2.2Vto 12V input voltage range.
The LM2698 sets the standardin power density andis
capableof supplying 12Vat 400mA froma5V input. The
LM2698 can alsobe usedin flybackor SEPIC topologies.
The LM2698 SIMPLE SWITCHER® featuresapin selectable
switching frequencyof either 600kHzor 1.25MHz. This pro-
motes flexibilityin component selection and filtering tech-
niques.A shutdown pinis availableto suspend the device
and decrease the quiescent currentto 5μA.An external
compensation pin gives the user flexibilityin setting fre-
quency compensation, which makes possible the useof
small, low ESR ceramic capacitorsat the output. Switchers
Made Simple® softwareis availableto insurea quick, easy
and guaranteed design. The LM2698is availableina low
profile 8-lead MSOP package.
