General DescriptionThe LM2676 seriesof regulators are monolithic integrated
circuits which provideallof the active functionsfora step-
down (buck) switching regulator capableof drivingupto3A
loads with excellent line and load regulation characteristics.
High efficiency (>90%)is obtained through the useofa low
ON-resistance DMOS power switch. The series consistsof
fixed output voltagesof 3.3V,5V and 12V andan adjustable
output version.
The SIMPLE SWITCHER concept providesfora complete
design usinga minimum numberof external components.A
high fixed frequency oscillator (260KHz) allows the useof
physically smaller sized components.A familyof standard
inductorsfor use withthe LM2676are available from several
manufacturersto greatly simplifythe design process.
The LM2676 series also has builtin thermal shutdown,
current limiting andan ON/OFF control input that can power
downthe regulatortoa low 50µA quiescent current standby
condition. The output voltageis guaranteedtoa ±2% toler-
ance. The clock frequencyis controlledto withina ±11%
tolerance.
