General DescriptionThe LM2641isa dual step-down power supply controller
intendedfor applicationin notebook personal computers and
other battery-powered equipment.
Fixed-frequency synchronous driveof logic-level N-channel
power MOSFETs is combined with an optional
pulse-skipping modeto achieve ultra efficient power conver-
sion overa 1000:1 load current range. The pulse-skipping
mode canbe disabledin favorof fixed-frequency operation
regardlessofthe load current level.
High DC gain and current-mode feedback control assure
excellent line and load regulation anda wide loop bandwidth
for fast responseto dynamic loads. internal oscillator fixes the switching frequencyat
300 kHz. Optionally, switching canbe synchronizedtoan
external clock runningas fastas 400 kHz. optional soft-start feature limits current surges from the
input power supplyat startup and providesa simple means start-up sequencing.
Logic-level inputs allowthe controllerstobe turned ON and
OFF separately.
