General DescriptionThe LM1578Aisa switching regulator whichcan easilybe
setupfor such DC-to-DC voltage conversion circuitsasthe
buck, boost,and inverting configurations.The LM1578Afea-
turesa unique comparator input stage whichnot onlyhas
separatepinsfor boththe invertingand non-inverting inputs,
but also providesan internal 1.0V referenceto each input,
thereby simplifying circuit designandp.c. board layout.The
outputcan switchupto750mAandhas output pinsforits
collectorand emitterto promotedesign flexibility.Anexternal
currentlimit terminal maybe referencedto eitherthe groundtheVin terminal, depending uponthe application.In addi-
tion,the LM1578Ahasanon board oscillator, whichsetsthe
switching frequencywitha single external capacitor from<1to100kHz (typical).
The LM1578Aisan improved versionofthe LM1578, offer-
ing higher maximum ratingsforthe total supply voltageand
output transistor emitterand collector voltages.
