General DescriptionThe LM3524D familyisan improved versionofthe industry
standard LM3524.Ithas improved specificationsand addi-
tional featuresyetispin forpin compatiblewith existing 3524
families. New features reducethe needfor additional exter-
nal circuitry often requiredinthe original version.
The LM3524Dhasa ±1% precision5V reference. Thecur-
rent carrying capabilityofthe output drive transistorshas
been raisedto200 mAwhile reducing VCEsatand increasing
VCE breakdown to60V.The common mode voltagerangeof
the error-amphas been raisedto 5.5Vto eliminatethe need
fora resistive divider fromthe5V reference.the LM3524Dthe circuit biaslinehas been isolated from
the shut-downpin. This preventsthe oscillator pulse ampli-
tude andfrequency from being disturbedby shut-down. Also high frequencies (≅300 kHz)the max. duty cycleperout-
puthas been improvedto 44% comparedto 35% max. duty
cyclein other 3524s. addition,the LM3524Dcan nowbe synchronized exter-
nally, throughpin3. Alsoa latchhas been addedto insure
one pulseper period evenin noisy environments. The
LM3524D includes double pulse suppression logic thatin-
sures whena shut-down conditionis removedthe stateof
the T-flip-flopwill change only afterthefirst clock pulsehas
arrived. This feature preventsthe same output from being
pulsed twiceina row, thus reducingthe possibilityof core
saturationin push-pull designs.
