General Description
The LM35 seriesare precision integrated-circuit tempera-
ture sensors, whose outputvoltageis linearlyproportionalto
the Celsius (Centigrade) temperature. The LM35 thushas advantage overlinear temperature sensors calibratedin§
Kelvin,asthe userisnot requiredto subtracta large con-
stant voltage fromits outputto obtain convenient Centi-
grade scaling.The LM35 doesnot requireany externalcali-
brationor trimmingto provide typical accuraciesof g(/4§C room temperatureand g*/4§C overafull b55to a150§C
temperature range. Low costis assuredby trimming and
calibrationatthe wafer level.The LM35’slow output imped-
ance, linear output,and precise inherent calibration make
interfacingto readoutor control circuitry especially easy.It
canbe used with single power supplies,or with plusand
minussupplies.Asit draws only60 mAfromits supply,ithas
verylow self-heating,less than 0.1§Cinstillair.The LM35is
ratedto operate overa b55§to a150§C temperature
range, whilethe LM35Cis ratedfora b40§to a110§C
range (b10§ with improved accuracy). The LM35 seriesis
available packagedin hermetic TO-46 transistor packages,
whilethe LM35C, LM35CA,and LM35Dare also availablein
the plastic TO-92 transistor package. The LM35Dis also
availableinan 8-lead surface mount small outline package
anda plastic TO-202 package.
