FAN7710 — Ballast Control IC for Compact Fluorescent Lamps June 2007 FAN7710 Ballast Control IC for Compact Fluorescent Lamps Features Description Integrated Half-Bridge MOSFET The FAN7710, developed using Fairchild’s unique high- voltage process and system-in-package (SiP) concept, is Floating Channel for Bootstrap Operation up to +550V a ballast control integrated circuit (IC) for a compact Low Start-up and Operating Current: 120μA, 2.6mA fluorescent lamp (CFL). The FAN7710 controls internal high-voltage stress and delivers 20W to the lamp at Under-Voltage Lockout with 1.8V of Hysteresis 310V voltage. FAN7710 incorporates a preheating / DC Adjustable Run Frequency and Preheat Time ignition function, controlled by an user-selected external Internal Active ZVS Control capacitor, to increase lamp life. The FAN7710 detects Internal Protection Function (No Lamp) switch operation from after ignition-mode through an internal active Zero-Voltage Switching (ZVS) control Internal Clamping Zener Diode circuit. This control scheme enables the FAN7710 to High Accuracy Oscillator detect an open-lamp condition, without the expense of external circuitry, and prevents stress on MOSFETs. The Soft-Start Functionality high-side driver built into the FAN7710 has a common- mode noise cancellation circuit that provides robust operation against high-dv/dt noise intrusion.
