General Description
The DS96F172andthe DS96F174are high speed quaddif-
ferentialline drivers designedto meet EIA-485 Standards.
The DS96F172 andthe DS96F174 offer improved perfor-
manceduetotheuseof L-FASTbipolar technology.Theuse LFAST technology allowsthe DS96F172and DS96F174 operateat higher speeds while minimizing power con-
sumption.
The DS96F172andthe DS96F174 have TRI-STATE® out-
puts andare optimizedfor balanced multipoint data bus
transmissionat ratesupto15 Mbps.The drivers have wide
positiveand negativecommon mode range formultipointap-
plicationsin noisy environments. Positive and negative
current-limitingis provided which protectsthe drivers from
line fault conditions overa +12Vto −7.0V common mode
range.A thermal shutdown featureis also provided. The
DS96F172 featuresan active high and activelow Enable,
common toallfour drivers.The DS96F174 features separate
active high Enablesfor each driver pair.
